Sand Tarts
Sand Tarts are a traditional cookie in Pennsylvania Dutch cuisine, often enjoyed during the holiday season.

Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).

In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.

Beat in the egg yolks and vanilla extract.

In a separate bowl, combine the flour, cinnamon, and salt.

Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture and mix well.

Shape the dough into a ball and wrap it in plastic wrap. Chill for 30 minutes.

Roll out the dough on a lightly floured surface to about 1/8 inch thickness.

Cut into desired shapes using cookie cutters.

Place the cookies on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

Sprinkle sliced almonds on top of each cookie.

Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are lightly golden.

Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
